Vascular Access in children

In order to identify and treat certain disorders symptomatically in hospitalised children, vascular access is usually necessary in the top Paediatric hospital in India. In anaesthesia, resuscitation, critical care for fluids, and medicine delivery, venous access is used. When blood pressure monitoring and blood gas collection are necessary during major surgeries and in critically ill children, arterial access is employed. When intravenous access is not an option, intraosseous access through the bones is used. To administer medication, administer fluids, provide total parenteral nutrition (TPN), sample blood, or read central venous pressure, vascular access devices (VADs) are placed into the veins through peripheral or central channels. A thin, soft, flexible tube called a peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) serves as an intravenous (IV) line through which drugs are administered. Additionally, blood can be collected through a PICC for lab tests.
