The doctors at Manipal Hospitals hosted an exclusive webinar with journalists in Cameroon on specialised healthcare for women. The webinar was named “Circle of Care: Women’s Health”. The webinar featured prominent doctors including Dr Yogita Parashar, Consultant - Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Prof Dr Somashekhar S P, Chairman & HOD - Surgical Oncology, and Dr Rohit Kumar C, Consultant - Surgical Oncology who spoke about women’s health and well-being. They discussed major health concerns in women such as breast cancer, cervical, ovarian and uterine cancer, fibroids, amenorrhea, Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), incontinence, overactive bladder, pelvic pain, STDs, and urinary tract infections.

The webinar was held on May 12, 2022, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM IST. The panelists said that despite increased awareness of women’s rights in all aspects of life, many people are still uninformed of the importance of women’s health. Mr. Karthik Rajagopal, Chief Operating Officer, Manipal Hospitals, speaking during the webinar said, every woman from a little girl to an elderly woman suffers from several health challenges throughout her life. He further stated, “This webinar is an attempt to encourage women of every age group around the globe to understand the importance of their health and to start a conversation around women’s wellbeing.”

Addressing the audience, the national president of the Cameroon Association of Media Professionals (CAMP) said “women’s health is fundamental to all societies and communities, even though, it remains one of the most neglected issues. It is critical for women to prioritize their health. Making progress in even one area can help women live better and longer, as well as benefit those around them.
